For Crying out Loud.

After listening from heaps of recommendation (especially from President), I finally got my hands on Sekai no Chuushin de, ai wo sakebu (Crying out love, in the Center of the World). Yeah I know it's out for quite some time but you should know the limited airtime of Japanese dramas in 8TV, watching Japanese dramas nowadays can be quite precarious. It used to enjoy 2 episodes airtime per week and now it is only limited to 1 episode per week. Hence, it halted the exposure of jdorama on tv. The Korean phenomenon has been steadily risen in the ranks of free to air and cable tv, no thanks to the public's obsession of Winter Sonata and Jewel in the Palace. So yeah, fuck them both. Probably because I'm not a fan of slow-paced dramas and also a number 1 dub hater. I decided to move on my own, by downloading or renting them instead.

Started to download this drama via bittorrent 3 weeks ago (Yeah that's not a typo). You may wonder why it took so long downloading with streamyx. Well that's because its partly due to the superiority of Shitmyx, better known as Slowmyx definitely lived up to it's wonderful criticism. With transfer rate worth of 5 kbps, it's a miracle that I actually waited for 3 bloody weeks, all thanks to Shitmyx, a wonderfool product supported by the illustrious tmnut. Just imagine the company's profile is even recorded in wikipedia. I won't call it illustrious for nothing ok?

Saku (not wang saku but Matsumoto Sakutaro) and Hirose Aki.

So now I've started watching and I'm half way through the series. Yeah yeah I know I'm slow but it's better late than never, no? I'll finish the remaining once I had more time to spare and here's my half baked opinion about the series so far. The storyline is pretty well written, it moved me. Hey, I actually like this love series! I'm so gay! woo hoo! Heh, I'm digressing. Okay, there's nothing wrong for a guy to watch a love cum tragedy drama since I'm curious to know what's so sad about it and I must say it definitely lived up to it's reputation. So why do I think it's sad? Well sad dramas with excessive crying (Look what happen to malacca! Banjir besar!) because some one is dying from an incurable disease don't make me sad(where you actually get sick of crying).

The ah pek Wang Saku (17 years after Aki's death)

But dramas with subtle message embedded in each episodes does. .1 litre of Tears is a great example of an excellent tear jerker without much crying. I thought I was a stud after so many sad dramas failed to move my ass me. The drama is also beautifully shot and crafted by the way. Although the plot of Sekai and 1 litre revolves a girl dying from a dreadful disease, but I'm very surprised at the effects. The story is probably designed to fatally strike our air mata glands. Excellent compilation of soundtracks are also one of the reason that draws me to jdrama. To me, the mood of the music is extremely effective that I would actually feel the sadness projected in the tune without watching a footage in the drama. In short, it's the instrumental music that makes my tears flow the most because it gave me goose bump every time I listen to it.

No matter how depressing this drama is, it has its own share of comedic moments. One of the most touching part is when his grandfather persuaded him to steal his old lover's bones from her tomb. At first it came out as a funny persuasion but as soon as he reveal the real reason to justify the stealing. Watching that part itself is very heart wrecking. But it's only one of the tear jerking moments. There's more. Although it's out for quite some time, but I would still recommend this drama. This drama is superior and the directing is top notch. Unlike the inferior My Girl and I, the Korean version of Sekai, I barely last 10 mins watching the movie and I fell asleep after that.

No, this is NOT a sponsored post damn it.
